Alone without Space

Throughout this project, I consider classic approaches to portrature as well as cityscapes, challenging these photographic conventions with my work. Focusing on ideas of LGBTQ isolation, solitude, and vulnerability, I combine my photographs with longstanding techniques such as long exposure to help portray these ideas in a way that is not usually common. To express these ideas, I work in settings that are populated, carefully framing each subject as isolated from everything around it. I explore the idea that a location can be experienced differently through a photograph, as opposed to being there physically.
